In early April 2007, two movie nerds 1300 miles apart decided to start their own blogs focusing on film. After a year, they met via the LAMB and became fast blogging buddies. Eventually the two started a weekly film podcast together, but after awhile they realized joining blogging forces was a lot more efficient than running sites separately. And thus, Reel Insight the blog was born.
About Rachel
Rachel started Rachel's Reel Reviews on April 3, 2007 as an outlet for sharing her thoughts on film, whether anyone wanted to know them or not. The site went through many ups and downs, but Rachel ultimately met her goal of running Rachel's Reel Reviews for 5 years and publishing 1000 posts.
Rachel studied theatre and English at the world's tiniest liberal arts college. By day she is a legal assistant at an elder law firm and by night she indulges in endless hours of film and The Sims 3. Her husband, Brad, is obsessed with eyeballs and her daughter, Mia, will someday rule the world.
Favorite Films of All Time: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, Children of Men, The Fountain, and Little Miss Sunshine
About Jess
Five years ago when Jess started blogging, she was just a lowly graduate student with LOTS of procrastination ability (though only reached 900 posts in 5 years). She decided that instead of working on her degree, she'd tell the world about all the ways she avoided doing work - mostly watching TV and movies. Thankfully, her advisor and committee never found the blog (though some other fun people, particularly Rachel did!) and she got her doctorate last year.
Now, in addition to being a nerd with a piece of paper proving it, Jess is a professor of biology, ecology and basically anything else that will get her a job. She can't wait for the day Mia becomes her benevolent overlord.
